Credit: Johnny BuzzerioTom DeLonge has been named the 2017 UFO Researcher of the Year by OpenMinds.tv, a "research-based organization with a mission to investigate and report evidence of extra-terrestrial, UFO, and other phenomena to a global audience."

In honoring the ex-Blink-182 guitarist with the award, OpenMinds.tv pointed to DeLonge's book Sekret Machines Book 1: Chasing Shadows, which the musician says is based on what he learned from high-ranking sources in the military and intelligence communities, as well as his contact with John Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. DeLonge's correspondence with Podesta was revealed in the Wikileaks leak last fall.

You can watch DeLonge's acceptance speech for the award now via YouTube, in which he promises that his work on UFO research has "only just begun."

DeLonge will release a new book on UFOs, called Sekret Machines: GODS, on March 7. He's also directing a film based on his Strange Times franchise that will follow a group of San Diego skateboarders who encounter a hotbed of paranormal activity in their town.
