Tom DeLonge has a lot on his plate right now. His new EP with Angels & Airwaves, ...Of Nightmares, comes out Friday, which serves as a companion to his forthcoming sci-fi novel, Poet Anderson...Of Nightmares, which will be released October 6. There's also a Poet Anderson feature film in the works, continuing the story of the fictional character of DeLonge's creation.
And on top of all that, the former Blink-182 singer/guitarist says he's deeply involved with a matter of "national security" concerning the infamous Area 51.
"Beyond feature films, I'm doing a project I can't talk about that's bigger than Poet Anderson, that's dealing with issues of national security," DeLonge tells NME. "So I'm flying out to New Mexico to have a meeting with the general of the US Air Force Space Command."
Area 51 is a restricted military base and airspace in the Nevada desert. Though its official purpose is testing top-secret military aircraft, some believe the government uses the facility to safeguard evidence extraterrestrials have visited Earth.
Tom continues, "This'll be my third meeting with that individual. What's even crazier is I had breakfast with two guys who work at Area 51 three days ago. So I'm telling you, I'm doing some really, really important things right now."
It's difficult to tell if Tom's pulling everyone's leg. Then again, in an interview with Paper earlier this year, he said the government tapped his phone due to his belief in extraterrestrial life.
"I don't have time to try and get people to believe in me or buy into it," DeLonge tells NME. "When it rolls out, people will understand."
