Tom Morello, Tenacious D to Bowl in Honor of Ronnie James Dio

Sean Ricigliano; Columbia RecordsThis Saturday marks the fifth anniversary of Ronnie James Dio's death, and in honor of the legendary heavy-metal singer, a three-day celebration honoring him will be held in and around Los Angeles starting with the Bowl for Ronnie celebrity bowling tournament on May 15. Among those participating in the tournament are Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello and Tenacious D's Jack Black and Kyle Gass,

Other bowling participants include Theory of a Deadman's Tyler Connolly, Stone Sour's Christian Martucci and Roy Mayorga and founding Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler. A silent auction also will be held during the event that will offer collectible bowling pins signed by Tenacious D, Aerosmith, Metallica, Anthrax and more.

The memorial service, which will include a series of speeches and special performances honoring Ronnie, will be a free event held at L.A.'s Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills cemetery at 1 p.m. PT on Saturday. Seating for the memorial is limited, so those interested in attending should email their name, phone numbers and number of seats needed to info@diocancerfund.org.

Bringing the weekend to a close will be the Ride for Ronnie Motorcycle Ride and BBQ, which gets under way Sunday at 9 a.m. PT at Harley-Davidson of Glendale in Glendale, California.  After a breakfast, participating riders hit the road at 11 a.m. and drive down to Los Encinos Historical Park in Encino, California, where the barbecue will begin at noon. The party will include a concert starring many of Dio's old band mates, in addition to food and drink, raffle prizes, a live auction and more.

Each event will will raise money for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, founded by Dio's widow, Wendy. Tickets for Friday's and Sunday's events can be purchased DioCancerFund.org. The Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is dedicated to aiding in cancer prevention, research and education by distributing funds to various charities and medical facilities. Ronnie James Dio died May 16, 2010, from stomach cancer at the age of 67.
