ABC/Ida Mae AstuteOn March 14, 1987, No Doubt played their first club show at Fender's Ballroom in Long Beach, California. To mark the concert's 30th anniversary, bassist Tony Kanal shared an Instagram video Tuesday night thanking fans for three decades of support.
As Kanal tells it, he was a junior in high school when his friend Chris Webb, No Doubt's original drummer, invited him to see his band play.
"What I saw that day was magnificent, they were incredible," says Kanal. "A week later I tried out and I joined the band. That was obviously a completely incredible thing for me, and a life-changing moment."
"I just wanted to say thank you to every one that supported us for the last 30 years," he continues. "We've had an incredible ride and we really appreciate it."
No Doubt has released six studio albums, the most recent of which being 2012's Push and Shove. Meanwhile, Kanal, along with his No Doubt band mates Tom Dumont and Adrian Young have formed a new band with AFI's Davey Havok called Dreamcar. They'll release their self-titled debut album on May 12.
