Steven Ferdman/Getty ImagesDuring their tour earlier this year, Tool's set list included an elongated version of their 1992 track "Opiate." Now, guitarist Adam Jones has revealed that the band recently hit the studio to record that version of the track.
"We recorded a new version of 'Opiate' not too long ago," Jones writes in an Instagram post. "We wrote a different break down that's about five minutes longer in the middle of the song."
Why exactly Tool recorded the new version of "Opiate," or when it might be released, is currently unknown, but Jones also reveals the band filmed a video for the updated track.
Meanwhile, news regarding progress of Tool's new album, the long-awaited follow-up to 2006's 10,000 Days, has remained typically scarce. Frontman Maynard James Keenan is currently on tour with A Perfect Circle, who just released a new track called "The Doomed," the first single from that band's equally anticipated new album, their first since 2004's eMOTIVe.
