Twenty One Pilots’ Tyler Joseph reveals which 2018 song he wishes he wrote

ABC/Image Group LAThere are probably quite a few musicians who are jealous of Twenty One Pilots' songs, but in an interview with Kerrang!, frontman Tyler Joseph reveals the 2018 track that he wishes he'd written himself: "Superposition" by Young the Giant.

"I rarely feel like, 'Oh, I wish I'd written that...' when I hear someone else's music, but this is one of those occasions," Joseph says. "When I heard this I was like, 'I wish that I'd stumbled across that [idea].'"

As for what exactly he likes so much about "Superposition," Joseph says, "The structure is really familiar, yet the creative moves they make inside of that are unfamiliar, so when you combine those two different things it's hugely exciting."

"The melody of the chorus is thrilling, and the bridge is so refreshing," he adds.

Joseph is also a big fan of Bring Me the Horizon's Grammy-nominated single "Mantra."

Speaking of Bring Me the Horizon, frontman Oli Sykes also spoke to Kerrang! about his favorite song of 2018. He picks the song "soil" by avant-garde artist serpentwithfeet. "His voice is absolutely amazing," Sykes says. "It's one of those that just makes you go, 'Wow!'"

Other artists who shared their favorite songs of 2018 include Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda, who listed "Blood//Water" by grandson, "Baby" by Bishop Briggs and "Numb" by Meg Myers, and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, who picked "Ruiner" by emo-rapper nothing, nowhere.
