U2 to Perform at MTV Europe Music Awards

Image Courtesy of Interscope RecordsThe MTV European Music Awards have added one of the Europe’s -- and really, the world’s -- biggest bands to its list of performers: U2. The 2014 MTV EMAs, which will be held November 9 from Glasgow Scotland, will mark the Irish band’s fourth performing appearance at the award show.

U2’s most recent performance at the MTV EMAs was in 2009. The band performed a medley of “One” and “Magnificent,” as well a rendition of “Sunday Bloody Sunday” alongside rapper Jay Z.

Other performers at the 2014 MTV EMAs include a number of pop artists much younger than U2, such as Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Charli XCX.

While the award show is mostly dominated by pop, there will be awards handed out for Best Rock and Best Alternative categories. In the Best Rock category, you'll find Linkin Park, Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, The Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys. Best Alternative contenders include Thirty Seconds to Mars, Paramore, Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Fall Out Boy. Additionally, Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with the Global Icon Award.

U.S. viewers will be able to watch the MTV EMAs on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.
