WALK THE MOON's "Shut Up and Dance" has now been dancing at number-one on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart for 23 weeks, tying the record for the longest reign atop the chart since it began in 2009.
The record was originally set by Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive," which held onto the number-one spot from April to September 2013. It was then tied by Hozier's "Take Me to Church," which stood atop Hot Rock Songs from November 2014 to April 2015, when it was dethroned by "Shut Up and Dance."
If "Shut Up and Dance" holds on for one more frame, then WALK THE MOON will have the new record for weeks at number-one on Hot Rock Songs, with 24. The song will have to hold off Fall Out Boy's "Uma Thurman" and X Ambassadors' "Renegades," which currently sit at number-two and number-three on Hot Rock Songs, respectively.
In other charting news, Cold War Kids have scored their first number-one single on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart with their retroactively aptly-named song, "First." The track has also reached number-nine on Hot Rock Songs, giving Cold War Kids their first top-10 single on that chart.
