Credit: Felisha TolentinoGreen Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will star alongside Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester in the film Like Sunday, Like Rain. Armstrong will play the "slacker boyfriend" to Meester's "sometimes musician," who becomes the au pair for an affluent and beyond precocious teenager. You can watch the Like Sunday, Like Rain trailer, which features an argument between Armstrong and Meester's characters, on YouTube.
While Armstrong has appeared in films before, Like Sunday, Like Rain will be the rocker's first major role. He'll be keeping the leading man train rolling when he stars in the film Geezer, in which Armstrong plays an aging rock star whose family forgets his 40th birthday.
Meester, meanwhile, is a musician in her own right, much like her former Gossip Girl costar and The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen. In addition to appearing on Cobra Starship's hit single "Good Girls Go Bad," Meester released her debut album, Heartstrings, last year.
Like Sunday, Like Rain will hit theaters March 13.
