Watch Mumford & Sons cover Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt” in Cleveland

ABC/Randy HolmesOver the weekend, Mumford & Sons' tour stopped by Cleveland, Ohio, where Trent Reznor first got his start. In honor of the city's hometown hero, the folk rockers busted out a cover of the Nine Inch Nails classic "Hurt."

Mumford's version of the track falls somewhere between the original and Johnny Cash's iconic cover -- it sticks mostly to the format of the Cash version, before jamming out hard in the outro. You can watch fan-shot footage of the performance now on YouTube.

In addition to paying tribute to Reznor's origins, Mumford performed the cover the day after the 25th anniversary of the release of NIN's 1994 album The Downward Spiral  "Hurt" is the closing track on that album.

Mumford & Sons are currently touring the U.S. behind their new album Delta, which features the lead single "Guiding Light." The trek continues Monday in Columbus, Ohio.
