The trailer for the upcoming second season of The Umbrella Academy is out, and it includes a new solo song from Gerard Way called "Here Comes the End."
The Umbrella Academy is a live-action Netflix show based on the comic book series of the same name, which was created by the My Chemical Romance frontman. It follows a dysfunctional family of superheroes who must band together to stop the apocalypse.
In the trailer, we learn that, thanks to some time travel shenanigans, our heroes have been transported to Dallas, Texas, 1963 -- seven days before the John F. Kennedy assassination. Unfortunately, in attempting to stop the apocalypse in their timeline, they ended up bringing it into a new one.
Speaking about "Here Comes the End," Way explains, "I was originally inspired to write this track when series one of The Umbrella Academy was being shot; by the time I finished it 2020 was in full swing, the world had taken a profound turn and the song was finished in a surreal new reality."
Way previously recorded covers of "Happy Together" by The Turtles and Simon & Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade of Winter" for first season of The Umbrella Academy, which premiered in February 2019.
Season 2 premieres July 31 on Netflix.
