X Ambassadors' single "Renegades" has stopped WALK THE MOON's "Shut Up and Dance" from dancing to another record-breaking week atop Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart. "Renegades" has taken the number-one spot on the chart from "Shut Up and Dance," which had spent 27 straight weeks at number one.
WALK THE MOON's 27-week run atop Hot Rock Songs was the longest streak on the chart since it launched in 2009. The original record of 23 weeks was set by Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" in 2013, and was tied earlier this year by Hozier's "Take Me to Church." "Shut Up and Dance" dethroned "Take Me to Church" in April and broke the record in September.
X Ambassadors had their own impressive chart run over the summer as well: "Renegades" spent 11 straight weeks at number one on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.
"Renegades" is a single from X Ambassadors' debut album, VHS. The band's tour in support of VHS continues October 9 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
