The Shins Announce New Album, “Heartworms”

Aural Apothecary/Columbia RecordsThe Shins have officially announced the details of their new album, their first since 2012's Port of Morrow. The fifth studio album from James Mercer's band is called Heartworms, and will be released March 10.

Heartworms features the previously-released song "Dead Alive," plus the lead single "Name for You," which, according to a press release, is a "resounding call for female empowerment inspired by Mercer's three daughters." You can listen to "Name for You" now on YouTube.

The Shins will be playing a number of West Coast shows around the release of the album, followed by dates in Paris, London and Amsterdam. The band also has a show scheduled June 15 in Brooklyn, New York. Visit TheShins.com for ticket info.
