"Day 1 of recording a new solo album and as it happens, learning that I share a name with an alleged jihadist," Cornell tweeted Thursday, referring to Christopher Lee Cornell, who was recently arrested on charges of attempting to kill a U.S. government official in an alleged plot to attack the U.S. Capitol.

Cornell the musician then posted a photo of tangled wires behind recording equipment, with the caption: "Back in the studio!"

Cornell first solo album, Euphoria Morning, was released in 1999, two years after Soundgarden broke up. His last studio solo effort was 2009's Timbaland-produced Scream, which garnered a fair amount of controversy among fans due to its electro-pop leanings.

Soundgarden's last release was a three-disc rarities collection, entitled Echo of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across the Path.
