Björk’s “Vulnicura” Will Be Released Digitally Today

Image Courtesy of One Little Indian RecordsRemember when Björk posted a handwritten note on her Facebook page saying that she would be releasing her new album, Vulnicura, in March? Well, here we are, still in January, and Vulnicura is available to purchase on the U.K. iTunes store. In a new post, the always surprising Icelandic singer revealed that the digital album will be gradually released worldwide over the next 24 hours.

Elsewhere in the post, Björk characterizes Vulnicura as a "complete heartbreak album."

"First i was worried it would be too self indulgent but then i felt it might make it even more universal," she writes. "Hopefully the songs could be a help, a crutch to others and prove how biological this process is: the wound and the healing of the wound. Psychologically and physically. It has a stubborn clock attached to it."

Though Vulnicura is being released now digitally, it appears that the CD and vinyl versions of the album will still be released in March as originally planned.

In support of Vulnicura, Björk will be playing six shows in New York City from March 7 to April 4. She'll return to NYC in June to headline the Governors Ball Music Festival.
