Bono is lending his talents to an independent film titled Waiting for the Miracle to Come.
He won't star in the movie, but he will executive produce and write an original song for it, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The song will be performed by Willie Nelson, one of the film's cast members.
Waiting for the Miracle to Come will focus on an aspiring trapeze artist who is directed by a letter to a California goldmine, where she discovers retired vaudeville stars, one of whom will be played by Nelson.
Bono has a connection to Nelson: he wrote "Slow Dancing" for the country legend in the late 1980s.
Waiting for the Miracle to Come will be directed by Lian Lunson, whose previous credits include the documentary Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man, featuring Bono.
The movie will begin shooting at Nelson's private Texas ranch in March.
Bono and his band, U2, have contributed music to films from time to time during their career. In 2014, they received an Oscar nomination for "Ordinary Love," their song in the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
