Coldplay Enjoys Sales Spike Following Super Bowl Performance

Image Group LA/ABCGiven that they performed for more than 110 million TV viewers, it makes sense that Coldplay would enjoy a surge in album sales following their Super Bowl 50 halftime show performance. According to Billboard, Coldplay's seven albums, including their most recent effort, A Head Full of Dreams, sold a combined 93,000 copies for the week of the Super Bowl. That's a 365 percent increase over the combined 20,000 copies sold in the week leading up to Super Bowl 50.

Thanks to the Super Bowl exposure, A Head Full of Dreams also re-entered the top five of the Billboard 200 this week, coming in at number four. The album originally debuted at number two on the chart when it was released this past December.

Super Bowl 50 was held February 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Coldplay will return to Levi's Stadium as a part of their U.S. tour this summer, which kicks off in July with a two-night stand at MetLife Stadium in New York City.
