“Come hell or high water,” 311 & Dirty Heads plan to release new music before joint summer tour

Speaking to ABC Radio, 311 frontman Nick Hexum and Dirty Heads co-vocalist and guitarist Dustin "Duddy B" Bushnell say that you'll hear new music from both their bands before the tour kicks off in July.

"We are in the mixing phase, some of the songs are mixed," Hexum says of his band's album, the follow-up to 2017's Mosaic.

"We are gonna get this out in time for summer tour, come hell or high water," he adds. "We're gonna put a single out in April, so it's right around the corner."

The summer deadline, Hexum explains, has encouraged him and the rest of 311 to get the album done.

"It's good for us to have these deadlines," he says. "It's made [us feel] a little bit of pressure, we've had to work extra hard to get things in in time, but that makes it exciting, and we're looking forward to our 13th album."

As for Dirty Heads, Bushnell says that their follow-up to 2017's Swim Team is "pretty much done."

"We actually just got the first versions of the masters back, which we're pretty happy with," he says. "We're gonna try to release the first song of the album before this summer tour."

311's tour with Dirty Heads launches July 2 in Dayton, Ohio.
