Kintsugi gives Death Cab for Cutie their third straight number-one album on the chart, following 2001's Codes and Keys and 2008's Narrow Stars. The album also spawned a top-five hit on the Alternative Songs chart with "Black Sun."

Human, Three Days Grace's first album with new lead singer Matt Walst, is the band's fourth straight album to debut in the top 3 on Top Rock Albums. The only Three Days Grace album not to chart that high was the band's 2003 self-titled debut. Human also boasts the single "I Am Machine," which is the 12th Three Days Grace single to reach the top of the Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

In other rock chart news, Hollywood Undead's new album, Day of the Dead, proved to be very much alive, debuting at number four on Top Rock Albums. Day of the Dead is the rap-rock outfit's third straight top-five record on Top Rock Albums.
