Staab/CBSDuring Thursday night's Pearl Jam concert in Jack White's hometown of Detroit, Eddie Vedder took a moment to express his condolences over the death of keyboardist Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. Owens, who most recently played in White's band, as well as with The Mars Volta, died earlier this week of a heart attack while on tour in Mexico.  He was 38.

According to Billboard, Vedder called White "a friend of the whole group, a great player, a great writer and visionary."

"We send our heart out to [White] and his band...The only thing we can do is try to take energy here [at the concert] so we can remember [Owens] fondly," Vedder continued. He then dedicated the song "Light Years" to the late keyboardist.

White has canceled the remainder of his band's Mexico tour dates.

In 2000, Vedder dedicated "Light Years" to Sony Music's Diane Muus, according to Pearl Jam fan-site TwoFeetThick.com. Muus, who knew the band well, also died young at 33.
