Elle King’s Afraid She Might “Scare” New Tourmate Vance Joy

Trae Patton/CBSAfter performing non-stop in 2015, 2016 isn't shaping up to be much different for Elle King.  The twice-Grammy-nominated singer has been on her own tour since January, but starting tonight, she joins Vance Joy on select U.S. dates.  She says she's not sure what fans can expect from these shows -- though fewer dirty words might be on the agenda.

In November, King told ABC Radio that one of her New Year's resolutions was to stop swearing so much.  When asked what her shows with Joy will be like, she said, "Well if my resolution goes as planned, then it will be less cursing."  She adds, "I dunno -- I can scare boys, so I don’t know what’s gonna happen. But I’m excited for it."

We're pretty sure that the "Riptide" singer, who stands six-foot-four, won't be scared of King. But maybe she'll be more fearsome after she consumes what's on her list of backstage demands.

"Uh, Jameson [whiskey], sugar-free Red Bull," she tells ABC Radio, listing the items on her tour rider. "Funky sunglasses! And…Coca-Cola, and a nice bar set-up for my keyboard player."  She also plans to "add some more things" to the tally.

King and Joy will perform together tonight for the first time in Kansas City, Missouri, and then appear on and off with each other through March. King will also be appearing at a number of big music festivals this year, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Florida's Tortuga Festival, the Boston Calling Music Festival and New York's Governors Ball Festival.
