Foo Fighters Guitarist Chris Shiflett Preps Country-Influenced Solo Album, “West Coast Town”

Jim Bennett/FilmMagic Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett embraces his country side on "West Coast Town," the lead single and title track from his new solo album, which will be released April 14. You can download "West Coast Town" now on iTunes.

"I wrote 'West Coast Town' about growing up in Santa Barbara in the '70s and '80s and what that felt like to me," Shiflett tells Rolling Stone. "The demo version had a completely different groove, but [producer Dave] Cobb flipped it on its head and took it further out west, more Californian. I'm glad he did."

West Coast Town is technically Shiflett's third solo album, though it's his first using solely his own name. He previously released two albums with his country band Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants.
