Rumor has it that My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way was planning on starting a band with The Libertines guitarist Carl Barât. In the new issue of NME, Way addresses those rumors.
"What's true about that is that [Barât] and I started talking towards the end of My Chemical Romance," Way says. "He'd recently become a father, and it was really nice for me to have somebody to reach out to like that, even though we didn't talk much about the band breaking up. At one point we did plan on meeting up and maybe doing something together, but there was no talk of starting a band, really. We'd just sort of catch up with each other."
Way put out his debut solo release, entitled Hesitant Alien, earlier this year. The album peaked at number one on Billboard's Alternative Albums chart and number four on the Rock Albums chart.
Barât, meanwhile, just reunited with The Libertines earlier this month. The notoriously dramatic band announced that they will be releasing a third album -- their first since 2004.
