Green Day Dedicates Performance of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” to Victims of Oakland Warehouse Fire

Image Group LA/ABCGreen Day paid tribute to the victims of the Oakland warehouse fire during a show at the city's Oracle Arena Saturday night.

Before launching into a rendition of the band's hit "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong dedicated the performance to the 36 people who lost their lives at the Ghost Ship artists' space the night of December 2.

"What happened last week at Ghost Ship...it's shocking. But this is our own, this is our people," Armstrong told the crowd. "My heart just goes out to all the people that perished in that warehouse, because these are people just there looking for themselves, just trying to have a moment where they could all just celebrate just being artists and being weird and having fun."

You can watch fan-filmed footage of the performance now on YouTube.

Armstrong and Green Day obviously have a lot of close ties to the Oakland arts scene, as the band was founded in California's Bay Area.
