Jack White Guests on New A Tribe Called Quest Album

ABC/Nicole WilderLegendary rap group A Tribe Called Quest will release their final album, titled We Got It From Here, Thank You for Your Service, on November 11. The album will feature a variety of high profile guests, including one Jack White.

In an interview with The New York Times, Tribe MC and producer Q-Tip says that he and White started collaborating after the rocker asked to cover the group's song "Excursions" during his show at New York City's Madison Square Garden last year.

"We recorded so many tracks and ideas," says White. "It's one of those scenarios where we're so excited to finally get to work together that it was exploding in a whole different direction. We really didn't know what we were doing, it was just a 'hurry up and press record' kind of moment."

The spontaneity of the recordings was reflected in White's decision to not even bring his own gear to the sessions.

"He just took a guitar off the wall and plugged it in and just got his wizard on," says Q-Tip.

Earlier this year, Chris Rock posted a photo of himself along with White, Tribe's Jarobi White, comedian Dave Chappelle and Outkast rapper André 3000, who also guest on We Got It From Here, Thank You for Your Service. In the caption, Rock said they were all working on the long-rumored André 3000 solo album, but now, it certainly looks as though they were actually recording the Tribe record.

Other guests on the album include Elton John and rappers Kendrick Lamar and Busta Rhymes.
