Jack White’s Management Responds to University of Oklahoma Guacamole Flap

Image Courtesy of David James SwansonWe still don't know whether or not Jack White is a fan of guacamole, but the rocker's management company is responding to a recent article in a University of Oklahoma student newspaper which detailed the terms of White's contractual demands ahead of a concert he played at the school last Monday, demands which included a recipe for guacamole.

Last week, The Oklahoma Daily published the details of White's contract to perform at the school including financial details and the backstage requirements -- which included a demand that no bananas be present -- “this is a NO BANANA TOUR," the requirements read -- and the insistence that fresh, home-made guacamole be present in the band's dressing room.  In fact, the contract rider contained a very specific recipe for the guac.

On Friday, White's management company, Monotone, Inc., issued a statement saying that while White loved the show and the students who helped organize it, "the OU Daily student newspaper reporting the financial terms of the show, the private tour rider information, along with unsolicited photographers from their staff were unfortunate, unprofessional, and very unwelcoming."

The statement notes that the contract's terms are designed to help the entire production team "execute a professional and pleasant experience for all involved," including feeding a team of around 30 tour personnel in addition to venue staff.

"Contrary to what some believe, Jack doesn't write the rider nor make demands about his favorite snacks that must be in his dressing room.  We're not even sure he likes guacamole but we do know that the folks who work hard to put on the show do enjoy it."

The note adds, "By the way, now that's it out there, we recommend you try Lalo's guacamole recipe. It's delicious."  Lalo is White's tour manager Lalo Medina.
