Korn guitarist on touring with Tye Trujillo: “It’s crazy how much you see his dad in him”

RAUL ARBOLEDA/AFP/Getty ImagesKorn is currently on tour through South America, and 12-year-old Tye Trujillo, son of Metallica's Robert Trujillo, is handling bass duties in place of Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, who couldn't make the trip due to "unforeseen circumstances." Speaking with NME, guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer says Tye is "having a great time" on the tour.

"His dad's out here with us, just hanging out...and catching up," Shaffer explains. "[Tye] knows like 17, 18 Korn songs, and he knows them really well -- it's crazy. All the stops, and the breaks...it's crazy to see somebody that young so talented. He's gonna be a professional musician, and to know that at that early of an age is just inspiring."

"You can see it -- it's crazy how much you see his dad in him," Munky adds.

Tye's also learning to handle all of his sudden new fame.  "When we go to the shows, he's got people wanting his picture and his autograph," says Shaffer. "He's a little overwhelmed, but he's handling himself just like his dad, which is cool, collected and modest."

Korn's South American tour will conclude April 29 in Lima, Peru. Fiedly will be back in the band for their North American tour, which kicks of May 6 at the Carolina Rebellion festival.
