New Kurt Cobain Album Will be Released this Summer

Image Courtesy of The End of Music, LLC/HBOIn order to make Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, director Brett Morgen was granted access to Kurt Cobain's personal archives. When asked in an interview with Bedford + Bowery whether any of that material would be released as an album, Morgen revealed that a record is indeed in the works.

"We're going to be putting out an amazing album this summer that I think will answer that question," Morgen says.

He adds that the album "will feel like you're kind of hanging out with Kurt Cobain on a hot summer day in Olympia, Washington, as he fiddles about.  It's going to really surprise people."

Morgen does mention that people should not be expecting a Nirvana album.

"Just to be clear, it's not a Nirvana album," he says.  "It's just Kurt and you're going to hear him do things you never expected to come out of him."

In the meantime, Montage of Heck will premiere on HBO on Monday, May 4, at 9 p.m. ET.
