Perry Farrell Among Stars Who’ll Perform at Talking Heads Tribute Concert in NYC

Image Courtesy of Kyle Dean ReinfordThe music of David Byrne and his old band Talking Heads will be the focus of the latest in a series of star-studded tribute concerts organized by New York City entrepreneur Michael Dorf. The show is scheduled for March 23, 2015, at New York's Carnegie Hall.

The initial lineup for the event includes Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and Sleigh Bells singer Alexis Krauss, among others. Hip-hop group The Roots, alt-country singer Steve Earle and singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, also will perform. More performers will be announced soon. At least 20 artists are expected to hit the stage during the show.

Proceeds from the show will benefit various music education programs for underprivileged youth. The Byrne and Talking Heads tribute will be the 11th annual themed charity concert Dorf has helped organize in New York City.  The events have raised more than $1 million so far.

Among the artists that have been the subject of previous shows are The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Paul Simon, Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Elton John, R.E.M., The Who, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
