Sweet meddling kids o’ mine: Axl Rose cameos in upcoming ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ episode

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Live NationAxl Rose, where are you? With Scooby and the gang, of course.

The Guns N' Roses frontman makes an animated cameo in an upcoming episode of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, a cartoon series that continues the adventures of the mystery-solving teens and their lovable dog.

In a clip from the episode, streaming now via RollingStone.com, Scooby and company come across a diner on Route 66, only to find "singer-songwriter musician and total rock god" Axl Rose sitting on a motorcycle in the parking lot. Naturally, Rose is already friends with Shaggy and Scoob, and the clip ends with the trio performing an incredibly elaborate secret handshake.

Rose's episode of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? is set to premiere this Thursday, February 25, at 9 p.m. ET on Boomerang.

You may recall that a few years back, a cartoon Rose appeared in an episode of the Boomerang show New Looney Tunes, during which he sang a new song called "Rock the Rock." That track marked the first new original tune recorded by Rose in over 10 years.

What’s up? 4 Non Blondes’ YouTube views

Paul Natkin/Getty ImagesOne of the most enduring songs of the '90s is "What's Up," the 1993 hit by the band 4 Non Blondes that many people mistakenly think is called "What's Going On."  But whatever you call it, a heck of a lot of people have watched the video on YouTube.

The official video for "What's Up" has just become only the fifth video from the '90s to have hit a billion views on the streaming platform. It joins the videos for Guns N' Roses "November Rain," Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," The Cranberries' "Zombie" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."

Of those five videos, "November Rain" has the most, with more than 1.5 billion views. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is next with 1.2 billion. "Zombie" has just under 1.09 billion, and Whitney's hit has 1.07 billion.

4 Non Blondes front woman Linda Perry left the band in 1994 and then went on to become a hit-making songwriter and producer, working on smashes like Pink's "Get the Party Started," Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" and Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For," plus songs recorded by Ariana Grande, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys, Kelly Osborne and Courtney Love.

Perry was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015.

Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi rock inaugural ‘Celebrating America’ event

Handout/Biden Inaugural Committee via Getty Images The 2021 inauguration celebrations wrapped up Wednesday night with the primetime special Celebrating America.

The event, which was hosted by Tom Hanks, featured a lineup of top-tier performers, multiple tributes that celebrated the diversity of America, and remarks from the newly sworn in President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Typically, the day's events are capped off with the official inaugural balls, however, in light of the pandemic, the Celebrating America event took their place this year, which allowed many Americans to tune in to an inspiring night of performances.

Kicking off the exciting night from the elegant steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. was country rock star Bruce Springsteen, who opened up the program with his 1999 record "Land of Hope and Dreams" as "a small prayer for our country."

Also there to keep things rocking was Jon Bon Jovi. The New Jersey rocker and his backing band appeared from Miami, where they performed The Beatles' iconic hit "Here Comes the Sun" on a boardwalk in Miami as blue clouds gave way to the sun peaking through.

Before the Foo Fighters delivered a timely production of their song "Times Like These," they were introduced by Mackenzie Adams, a lively kindergarten teacher who went viral for her creative lessons amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The band's founder, Dave Grohl, shared that there's a teacher in his life that holds a very special place in his heart -- his mother, Virginia, who was one for 35 years and was "a mentor for her students, remembered long after their graduation." He dedicated the performance to Adams, and teachers everywhere for continuing to "enlighten our nation's kids every day."

U2’s Bono on inauguration of President Biden: “Today [Lady Liberty’s] flame burns bright”

Paul Morigi/Getty ImagesOn a day that saw the inauguration of the 46th president of the United States, Joe Biden, U2 frontman Bono has posted a message on the band's social media sites reflecting on the historic event that marks the end of the turbulent administration of Donald Trump.

"As an Irishman, I've always believed America isn't just a country, it's an idea…one the whole world has a stake in," the singer writes. "Lady Liberty's been bruised and battered these past four years, but today her flame burns bright as we watch her torch transfer to two new leaders who will calm the waters, even while they chart a new course."

Bono continues, "Joe Biden understands that in perilous times like these it is [Irish poet William Butler] Yeats' concept of cold passion that's required…an idea both very Irish, and very American."

The 60-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer goes on to congratulate and wish Godspeed to President Biden and Kamala Harris, who becomes the first woman, the first Black person and the first person of Asian descent elected U.S. vice president.

"[Her] history making, history-shaping achievement deserves many more moments in the sun," Bono notes.

He ends his message by referencing the January 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol by angry Trump supporters, and saluting "those conservatives who, when incited to turn your back on democracy, chose to put country above party, truth above tribalism...and accepted that the people have spoken."

Founding New York Dolls guitarist Sylvain Sylvain dead at age 69

Sylvain Sylvain with David Johansen of New York Dolls in 2011; Marc Broussely/RedfernsSylvain Sylvain, founding rhythm guitarist of the influential glam-punk band New York Dolls, died Wednesday of cancer, according to a message on his official Facebook page. He was 69.

The note reads, "Sylvain battled cancer for the past two and 1/2 years. Though he fought it valiantly, [Wednesday] he passed away from this disease. While we grieve his loss, we know that he is finally at peace and out of pain. Please crank up his music, light a candle, say a prayer and let's send this beautiful doll on his way."

Sylvain, born Sylvain Mizrahi in Cairo, Egypt, co-founded New York Dolls with drummer Billy Murcia, guitarist John "Johnny Thunders" Genzale, bassist Arthur Kane and singer David Johansen in 1971. The band's influences included The Rolling Stones, The Stooges, classic R&B and '60 girl groups.  Inspired by then-emerging glam-rock artists David Bowie and T. Rex, they took to wearing trashy androgynous outfits and women's clothing on stage.

Johansen paid tribute to Sylvain in a Facebook message that reads, "My best friend for so many years, I can still remember the first time I saw him bop into the rehearsal space/bicycle shop with his carpetbag and guitar straight from the plane after having been deported from Amsterdam, I instantly loved him. I'm gonna miss you old pal. I'll keep the home fires burning."

Murcia died of drug-related causes in 1972 and was replaced by drummer Jerry Nolan, solidifying the band's classic lineup. New York Dolls' self-titled debut album was released in 1973 and while the record wasn't commercially successful, it's gone on to influence countless groups, thanks to songs like "Personality Crisis," "Trash" and "Jet Boy." In 2020, Rolling Stone ranked the album at #301 on its "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list.

New York Dolls released one more studio album, 1974's Too Much, Too Soon, before the lineup started to splinter. Johansen and Sylvain continued to lead the band until its 1976 breakup.

Sylvain then launched a solo career and also collaborated with various artists over the years. Thunders and Nolan died of drug-related causes in 1991 and 1992, respectively, but in 2004, surviving New York Dolls Sylvain, Johansen and Kane reunited to perform at the U.K.'s Meltdown Festival, organized by Morrissey.

Sadly, Kane died of leukemia one month after the concert, but Sylvain and Johansen continued on with a new Dolls lineup that went on to record three more studio albums and tour frequently through 2011, when the band broke up again.
