Tame Impala’s “Currents” Debuts in Top 10 on “Billboard” 200

Interscope RecordsTame Impala has notched their first top-10 album on the Billboard 200 with their latest offering, Currents. The band's third record has debuted at number seven on the chart with a career-best 33,000 copies in pure album sales.

Currents comes three years after Tame Impala's last album, 2012's Lonerism, which peaked at number 34 on the Billboard 200 with 12,000 copies sold in its first frame. Lonerism also received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.

Tame Impala will be touring in support of Lonerism later this summer, starting with their set at Lollapalooza August 1. The Australian band will then embark on a short, four-stop West Coast trek before traveling to Europe. Tame Impala will return to the U.S. for another batch of dates in October.
