The Teen Choice Awards will be held this Sunday, and WALK THE MOON's "Shut Up and Dance" is among the nominees for Choice Party Song. The fact that actual teens vote for the awards is a big deal for frontman Nick Petricca.
"That is maybe the highest honor for me," Petricca tells ABC Radio of a potential Teen Choice Awards win. "I think it's amazing. Music has such an amazing impact and it's so important to us and it was so important to me growing up, so it's an honor."
While WALK THE MOON competes for Choice Party Song against pop stars like Taylor Swift and Rihanna, the Choice Rock Song category pits Twenty One Pilots' "Tear in My Heart," Imagine Dragons' "I Bet My Life," Fall Out Boy's "Uma Thurman," Hozier's "Take Me to Church" and X Ambassadors' "Renegades" against each other.
Fall Out Boy is a multiple nominee, earning nods for Choice Music Group: Male, Choice Summer Tour and Choice Song: Group for "Centuries," while Imagine Dragons also is up for Choice Music Group: Male. Additionally, Elle King's "Ex's and Oh's" is nominated for Choice Break-Up Song.
The 2015 Teen Choice Awards will air Sunday, August 16 on Fox.
