Watch Dave Grohl Listen to First Song He Wrote and Recorded

ABC/Fred WatkinsThe first song that Dave Grohl wrote and recorded on his own was a track called "Gods Look Down." He made a demo of the song in 1990 at the Laundry Room Studio in Seattle. In a newly surfaced outtake from Foo Fighters' 2014 documentary series Sonic Highways, Grohl returns to the Laundry Room and revisits the original "Gods Look Down" tapes with studio owner and producer Barrett Jones.

The highlight in the clip comes when Grohl isolates the vocal track, and is shocked to hear how high-pitched his voice used to sound. "I sound like a girl," Grohl laughs.

Grohl never officially released "Gods Look Down" on his own, but he did record a version of the track with his '80s hardcore band Scream prior to joining Nirvana. It appeared on Scream's final album, 1993's Fumble.
