Jeffrey R. Staab/CBSThe 39th annual Kennedy Center Honors took place earlier this month, but a special featuring highlights from the ceremony airs tonight on CBS. Taking part in the festivities were Kings of Leon, who performed the song "Take It Easy" in tribute to The Eagles, one of the evening's five honorees.
Also saluted at the 2016 Kennedy Center Honors were singer-songwriter James Taylor, actor Al Pacino, gospel/soul legend Mavis Staples and classical pianist Martha Argerich. Stephen Colbert hosted the event, and President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were in attendance.
The 39th Annual Kennedy Center Honors special airs tonight, December 27, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
