Welshly Arms planning to “put an album together” this winter

Credit: Peter LarsonLast week, "Legendary" rockers Welshly Arms dropped a new song called "Learn to Let Go," their first new track since the release of their 2018 album, No Place Is Home. Speaking with ABC Radio, frontman Sam Getz reveals that there's even more new music in the works.

"We're looking at a nice little break from touring this winter, which will be kind of our first extended break in the last couple years," Getz explains. "So we're hoping to put an album together during that time."

"We've got songs already kind of done that are sitting there and want to be out," he adds. "So yeah, you'll definitely be seeing more music."

Getz says that the new material hasn't taken any specific direction yet, but he wants to continue pushing the boundaries of the Welshly Arms sound.

"We took some left turns, I think, on this last record, and pushed ourselves sonically," Getz says. "And maybe even, with some of the themes, I felt like this one maybe got a little more personal than we had been in the past, and so there's a little bit of that. And so I think we're gonna kinda continue exploring."

In addition to writing more original material, Welshly Arms has also been thinking about recording another covers EP, like they did in 2014.

"I think it is something we would like to do again," Getz says. "What I really love to do -- and what we have always done when we do cover something -- is really try to reimagine it and play it as if it were our song -- what would we have done, and how would we have done this?"

"I get a lot of joy out of doing that," he adds.
