The shortlists for the sixth edition of the award ceremony were announced Tuesday, and they included a bevy of rock titans. The Best Headliner category is 70 percent rock, and includes Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Jack White, Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age, Imagine Dragons and Arcade Fire. Arctic Monkeys will be looking for a repeat victory after winning the Best Headliner award last year.
Belgian electronic musician Stromae and hip-hop duos Outkast and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis round out the top artist category.
Arctic Monkeys and The Black Keys also received nominations in the Festival Anthem of the Year category for "R U Mine?" and "Lonely Boy," respectively.
Rising alternative stars Hozier and Milky Chance make appearances in the third artist category, Newcomer of the Year. Imagine Dragons took home a win in that category last year.

The winners of the European Festival Awards will be announced during the opening night of the European conference and showcase festival Eurosonic Noorderslag in Groningen, The Netherlands on January 14.
