Bonnaroo Asked Jack White to Host a Superjam

Credit: David James SwansonThe Superjam is a staple of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The yearly one-off collaborative performance has showcased the jamming skills of members of The Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, Alabama Shakes, My Morning Jacket, Metallica and Phish. One artist who would seem perfect for the Superjam, but has never participated, is Jack White. In a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, Bonnaroo co-creator Kerry Black revealed that festival organizers have asked White to host a Superjam.

"Whenever Jack is ready!" replied Black when asked when White will lead a Superjam. "We have discussed before of course and hope it will happen one day."

White performed at last year's Bonnaroo, and he released a recording of his set on vinyl through his Third Man Records subscription service.

Elsewhere in the AMA session, Jonathan Mayers, another Bonnaroo co-creator, names White's 2014 performance as one of his all-time favorite Bonnaroo sets. Among his other favorite sets were My Morning Jacket in 2004, Radiohead in 2006, The White Stripes in 2007 and Metallica in 2008.

Bonnaroo 2015, held June 11-14, will feature performances by Mumford & Sons, Florence + the Machine, Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters, Hozier, Slayer, My Morning Jacket and many more.
