Foo Fighters headlined the second weekend of the Austin City Limits festival on Friday, but that's not all they did. They also decided to record five new songs.
"You know what I did last night? I recorded a f****** song in your beautiful city of Austin, Texas," Dave Grohl said during the Foos' ACL set. "And I'm just gonna say it now, we recorded five f****** new songs in your beautiful city of Austin, Texas."
Grohl made the announcement before playing the song "Big Me," alongside Texas singer-songwriter Ben Kweller. Grohl also revealed Kweller contributed vocal harmonies to one of the songs he recorded. You can watch fan-shot footage of the announcement and performance now on YouTube.
Foo Fighters' last album was 2014's Sonic Highways, which was accompanied by an eight-episode HBO series of the same name.
