Guns N’ Roses Rep Says It’s “Untrue” Axl Rose-Fronted AC/DC Will Open for GN’R

Columbia RecordsUnconfirmed rumors continue to swirl about AC/DC supposedly tapping Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose to fill in for Brian Johnson on a series of makeup dates the Australian rockers are expected to schedule later this year. However, a rep for Guns N' Roses tells ABC Radio that a new TMZ report claiming that a Rose-fronted AC/DC will be opening for GN'R on the latter group's as-yet-unannounced North American tour dates is "absolutely untrue."

TMZ has posted photos of Rose apparently emerging this past Friday from the same Atlanta rehearsal studio as most of AC/DC's members. The website claims Rose revealed last week that he'd be taking Johnson's place on a series of dates that were postponed because Brian has been experiencing severe hearing loss, though Axl hasn't made any such announcement.

Rumors about Rose possibly filling in for Johnson began circulating following a recent radio report, then caught fire after Ross Malcolm Young, the son of retired AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young, supposedly shared a link to the story on his Facebook page along with the note, "It's true." While that post has apparently been taken down, screenshots of it do exist.

Friday, Guns N' Roses posted a message featuring the names of 21 North American cities that the band apparently will visit on its forthcoming trek. Currently, the group has six confirmed shows lined up in April -- two in Las Vegas, two at the Coachella Festival in Indio, California, and two in Mexico City.
