Metallica to Perform National Anthem at NBA Finals Sunday

BB Gun PressHaving already made appearances at the San Francisco Giants' "Metallica Day" and the San Jose Sharks' "Metallica Night," Metallica will continue their quest to hit for the Bay Area sports teams cycle by performing the national anthem at Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers this Sunday.

"We're incredibly lucky to have another winning team here in the Bay Area as the Golden State Warriors took the NBA Western Conference title and are facing the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals!" writes Metallica on their website. "By now we're guessing that you've noticed that we like to support our home sports teams, so to continue in that tradition James [Hetfield] and Kirk [Hammett] will be on hand at Game 5."

Hetfield and Hammett's take on "The Star-Spangled Banner," which they also recently performed at the X Games, is a distortion heavy instrumental version in the vein of Jimi Hendrix's famous rendition at 1969's Woodstock.

Game 5 of the NBA Finals will air at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The series is currently tied 2-2.
