Modest Mouse’s “Lampshades on Fire” Tops “Billboard’s” Alternative Songs; Video Out Now

The peak of Alternative Songs is not uncharted territory for Modest Mouse, but it's been awhile since they've scaled that mountain. The band's last number-one hit on Alternative Songs was 10 years ago, when "Float On" reached the top of the chart in 2004.

As Billboard notes, that gap between number ones on is the second-longest in the history of the Alternative Songs chart. The longest gap belongs to Beck, who scored number ones on the chart 11 years apart with "Loser" in 1994 and "E-Pro" in 2005.

In other "Lampshades on Fire" news, Modest Mouse has released the video for their chart-topping single. The "Lampshades on Fire" video, which stars Orange Is the New Black actress Natasha Lyonne, mimics frontman Isaac Brock's frantic vocals and guitar playing with quick cuts of increasingly weird images. You can watch the video now on YouTube.
