Having already conquered the Billboard 200, Mumford & Sons have also reached the top of another Billboard chart. The band has grabbed the number-one spot on Billboard's Artist 100, which measures an artist's activity across album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media interaction.
Mumford & Sons jumped from number 83 last week to grab the top spot on the Artist 100 this week, marking the largest move any artist has made since the chart was launched in July 2014. The band's historic leap was sparked by their new album, Wilder Mind, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 249,000 equivalent album units sold, 231,000 of which were pure album sales.
Additionally, Mumford & Sons become only the second rock band to reach the top of the Artist 100. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was the first, topping the chart in August 2014. Earlier this year, Imagine Dragons came close but only got to number two on the heels of the release of their sophomore album, Smoke + Mirrors.
Mumford & Sons will be touring this summer in support of Wilder Mind starting June 2 in Brooklyn, New York. Between headlining dates, the band will host their Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers, featuring the likes of Foo Fighters, Alabama Shakes, The Flaming Lips and My Morning Jacket.
