After making their live debut last week, Big Grams -- Phantogram's collaboration with Outkast rapper Big Boi -- has announced the details of their debut studio release. The self-titled, seven-song EP will be released September 25.
In an interview with Pitchfork, Big Boi revealed he first came across Phantogram when he heard their song "Mouthful of Diamonds" through an online pop-up ad. He then recruited Phantogram for a few songs on the rapper's 2012 solo album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, which led to the formation of Big Grams.
"The idea of the project was to do something fun and to not be stressed out about releasing an album that's going to be, that's gotta sound like this, or it has to be like that," Phantogram's Sarah Barthel tells Pitchfork. "Because sometimes that happens with Phantogram, or other artists can have the same problem."
As for whether Big Grams will be touring in support of the EP, Big Boi offers a "Hell yes."
Here is the track list for Big Grams:
"Run for Your Life"
"Lights On"
"Fell in the Sun"
"Put It on Her"
"Goldmine Junkie"
"Born to Shine" feat. Run the Jewels
"Drum Machine" feat. Skrillex
