Radiohead Is Recording a New Album

Image Courtesy of Sebastian EdgeEarlier this year, Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood said that the band would start working on their next album in September. Well, September has come and gone without any news, save for a surprise Thom Yorke solo album on BitTorrent. Not to worry, though -- Greenwood has confirmed that Radiohead is currently in the studio.

"We're currently playing and recording," he tells BBC Radio Oxford. "It's fun to see everyone again, it's been a long time coming, we've been waiting all of us for a long time."

Greenwood says he and the band doesn't really know what the new album will sound like, as the album is in the very early stages of the writing and recording process.

“I always feel as when we start up like we still don’t know really how to do it, and we don’t know quite what to do," he says. "'Looking down avenues' is a very kind way of putting the kind of fumbling that we do, mainly because every time we try and do it like the last time because that worked, it never seems to work. So we talk about different approaches and we’re currently trying a bunch out."

The prospective new Radiohead album will be the band's first since 2011's King of Limbs. Greenwood, meanwhile, wrote the score for the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson film, Inherent Vice. The film's soundtrack will come out on December 15.
