As people continue to proclaim the death of rock, everyone from Jimmy Page to Lars Ulrich to Billy Corgan have named Royal Blood as one of today's best young rock bands. As for Royal Blood themselves, the U.K. duo are fans of quite a few modern rock bands, and frontman Mike Kerr names some of his current favorite rock songs in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
One of the songs Kerr picks is Eagles of Death Metal's single "Complexity." Kerr says that Josh Homme's Queens of the Stone Age side project is "amazing live," adding that band mate Jesse Hughes is a "very funny man."
Kerr also praises Foals' "What Went Down," the title track from the band's new album, their first since 2013.
"It was mainly just really great to hear Foals back again," Kerr says. "They had been away for quite a while.”
Also on Kerr's list is Tame Impala's "Less I Know the Better," from their album Currents, which he refers to as a "great f****** song."
"I think [Tame Impala frontman] Kevin Parker is a genius, and really that whole record is great," Kerr says.
Royal Blood is currently on tour through North America, which wraps up October 9 with their set at Austin City Limits.
