The 1975, David Bowie and Rag’n’Bone Man win Brit Awards

Credit: Vijat MohindraThe 2017 Brit Awards -- the British equivalent of the Grammys -- took place Wednesday in London, and the winners included The 1975, Rag'n'Bone Man and the late David Bowie.

Bowie was posthumously recognized with the British Male Solo Artist award. Additionally, his final album, Blackstar, was awarded the British Album of the Year prize.

The 1975 won the British Group award, beating out the likes of Radiohead and Bastille. Meanwhile, Rag'n'Bone Man earned the fan-voted British Breakthrough Act title.

Coldplay's Chris Martin performed during the ceremony in honor of the late George Michael. He sang along with an archival recording of the pop icon's track "A Different Corner."  Additionally, Coldplay performed their new collaborative single with hitmaking DJ duo The Chainsmokers, "Something Just Like This."
