Image Group LA/ABCTwenty One Pilots has broken a Billboard chart record with their single "Heathens." The Grammy-nominated track has now spent 28 weeks atop the publication's Hot Rock Songs chart, longer than any other song since the tally was launched in 2009.
"Heathens" breaks the record previously set by Walk the Moon, who spent 27 weeks at number one on Hot Rock Songs in 2015 with their single "Shut Up and Dance."
Twenty One Pilots has essentially ruled the Hot Rock Songs chart for the past year. In fact, a Twenty One Pilots song, be it "Heathens," "Stressed Out" or "Ride," has sat at number one on the tally for every week since January 9, 2016, except for the chart week dated May 14, when Prince posthumously topped the chart with "Purple Rain" following his death on April 21.
"Heathens" was recorded for the Suicide Squad soundtrack, while "Stressed Out" and "Ride" appear on Twenty One Pilots' album Blurryface. The duo is currently on the road in support of Blurryface on their North American Emotional Roadshow tour, which concludes March 5 in Louisville, Kentucky.
