RecordsThis year marks the 20th anniversary of The Flaming Lips' 1995 album Clouds Taste Metallic, and the band is celebrating with a deluxe edition of the record entitled Heady Nuggs 20 Years After Clouds Taste Metallic 1994-1997. The collection will be released as a three-CD and a limited edition five-LP set on November 27, which is this year's Record Store Day Black Friday.
Along with the original Clouds Taste Metallic album, Heady Nuggs will include a collection of rarities called The King Bug Laughs (Oddities and Rarities), a previously promo-only disc called Due to High Expectations The Flaming Lips Are Providing Needles for Your Balloons, and a live recording of The Flaming Lips' 1996 show in Seattle.
As for The Flaming Lips of today, the band has a few tour dates left on their schedule for 2015, including festival sets in San Diego, Nashville and Dallas. Last month, Wayne Coyne and company collaborated with pop star Miley Cyrus on her latest album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz.
