The Smashing Pumpkins Release Mystical “Run2Me” Video

Credit: Scarlet PageThe Smashing Pumpkins have shared the video for their song "Run2Me," one of the most electronically influenced tracks Billy Corgan and company have ever recorded. Directed by frequent collaborator Linda Strawberry, the mystical video, which follows a woman as she tries to escape the clutches of a witch, is based on the Magician tarot card.

"The girl in the video is both enlightened and trapped by this theme," Strawberry tells Vulture. "The Magician is symbolic of transition and inspiration, while the protagonist in the video is afraid of who she is about to become, she learns, accepts and then lets go of whatever was holding her back." The "Run2Me" video is now streaming on Vulture.com.

"Run2Me" is a track from The Smashing Pumpkins latest album, 2014's Monuments to an Elegy. Over the summer, the Pumpkins embarked on a co-headlining tour with Marilyn Manson in support of Monuments. For the tour, Corgan reunited with original drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, who has left and rejoined the Pumpkins several times since the band's inception.
