Tom DeLonge Says His Phone Was Tapped Due to His Belief in Aliens

Credit: Johnny BuzzerioTom DeLonge has always been public about his belief that aliens exist. Now, in an interview with Paper magazine, the Angles & Airwaves frontman -- and former Blink-182 guitarist -- is delving deeply into his belief in extraterrestrial life.

"I've been involved in this for a long time. I have sources from the government," he says. "I've had my phone taped. I've done a lot of weird stuff in this industry -- people wouldn't believe me if I told them."

"I've literally read 200 books on the subject, and I don't spend my time looking at UFO reports or talking to little green men," DeLonge continues. "I'm way past that. If anybody tells you there's no life in universe, you should be turned off. That's just such a dumb thing to say. It's totally, universally accepted amongst the country's elite scientific establishments that there's life everywhere."

DeLonge says that he's "partially" concerned for his safety, and that he was told that he should be "real f**king careful" when he was talking about a spacecraft he believes the government was building in order to emulate those flown by aliens.

"I remember bringing up a very specific craft that I believe we're building, in secret, to emulate the phenomenon that our government has been observing for decades," he says. "So I started talking about the craft, and its magnetic slide system and how it displaces over 89% of the mass of the ship, how it ionizes the engine, how it glows -- I went through the whole thing, and this engineer looks at me, this guy is 70 years old, and he goes, 'You better be real f**king careful about what you're talking about.'"

DeLonge's published alien beliefs just add to a busy couple of weeks in the press for the musician. Last month, DeLonge got in a public fight with his Blink-182 band mates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker over whether he was still in the band. Both parties have appeared to move on from the airing of dirty laundry, though DeLonge did post possible unreleased Blink-182 demos on Instagram.
